=BIKE NITE IS A HIT!=

BIKE NITE WAS A SUCCESS! ALTHOUGH THE HOLIDAY TOOK A BIG CHUNK OF THE BIKE CROWD OUT OF TOWN, WE STILL HAD A NICE TURNOUT FOR THE FIRST VELOSHIP BIKE NITE AT THE MT. TABOR THEATER ON THE 26TH.
DJ SANDYJONES PLAYED SOME HIP HOP TUNES AND WE HAD A SPECIAL SURPRIZE DJ FLY IN FROM HONG KONG... DJ CIN, WHO THREW SOME WICKED DUBSTEP THROUGHOUT THE NITE. EVERYONE ENJOYED FREE DONUTS FROM VOODO, THE TABORS GREAT FOOD MENU AND DRINKS ALL AROUND. SOME FREE PRODUCT WAS HANDED OUT FROM LEADER BIKES AND OLEV AS WELL AS FREE MIXED CD'S FROM THE DJ'S. NEXT ROUND PROMISED MORE OF THE SAME...
WE SAW MACAFRAMA, MASH AND THE FULL MOVIE 'RAD'... A CLASSIC. THE CROWD HAD PLENTY OF CAT-CALLS FOR RAD AND IT'S 80'S CHEESY-NESS. LAUGHS ABOUNDED!
BELOW ARE SOME OUTSIDE SHOTS OF THE WHIPS...

A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE IN ATTENDANCE, WHO BRAVED THE COLD TO MAKE IT AN AWESOME NITE! THE VENUE WAS PLEASED AND IT LOOKS LIKE WE'LL BE DOING IT AGAIN SOON, SO STAY LOCKED.

Winter Riding...

If you're like me, the cold really gets to you this time of year when you're on your bike. And though it unfortunately isn't in the realm of cycling, I couldn't get by this winter without my AirBlaster Ninja suit to keep me toasty when I'm riding around town. It's a nice warm almost full body base layer that you should definitely look into.

Check them out at Airblaster's web site. Or at snowboard shops all around.

Big things, mang!

I'm working on the new site instead of doing homework... So please support my irresponsibility by coming to BIKE NITE on December 26th. You'd think since I'm already doing this that I'd be able to work on my WEB DESIGN homework... Nope. Anyways, I'm going to finish up for the night and go on a bike ride

We're moving!

veloship.blogspot.com will soon be retiring. The rest of the crew (Sandy MF Jones, Ryan Jailmouth K.) and myself will be making the move to VELOSHIP.ORG. Be on the lookout!

=BIKE NITE!=

BIKE NITE has been pushed back to the 26th. It's a good thing though, trust me. It'll give me more time to line up sponsors so we can give you some dope gear to take home. We have a few confirmed sponsors, Shaun Deller, OLEVELO & VooDoo Donuts for example... And a good number of companies interested in making these events super special for you. Stay tuned!!!

Brev.M

Brev.M is the new kid on the block as far as track/fixed components go. Now, they haven't been around nearly long enough for me to know how good their stuff its but they have some pretty good looking stuff coming out. The super sexy drops above for example. It'll be interesting to see where they take it and the quality of their components.

But for now check out Brev.M's website.

=2010 SUPER PISTA=

WE ALL KNOW THAT I'M A HUGE FAN OF BIANCHI PISTAS... THE 2007 WAS MY FIRST TRACK FRAME AND WILL ALWAYS HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY STABLE. FOR A LONG WHILE I'VE BEEN SWEATING THE PISTA CONCEPTS, BUT HAVEN'T MUSTERED ENOUGH EXTRA LOOT TO COP ONE. THEN THEY STOPPED PRODUCING THEM AND I WANTED ONE EVEN MORE... UNTIL NOW.

LO AND BEHOLD... 2010 SEES THE CONCEPTS REPLACEMENT, THE SUPER PISTA. IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE REAR TUBING, BEEFING IT UP AS WELL AS A LITTLE MORE CUTOUT ROOM IN THE REAR TO ACCOMADATE LARGER TIRE SIZES. THE SEAT TUBE IS TEAR-DROPPED RIGHT UP TO THE SEAT CLAMP. GRAPHICS ARE VINTAGE BIANCHI LOGOS AND ITS PRODUCED IN THE VELOSHIP TEAM COLOR... FLAT BLACK!!!

(ABOVE: BIANCHI'S BUILD UP AT INTERBIKE '09)

MADE IN 49-51-53-55-57-59 & 61, THIS ALUMINIUM FRAME COMES SET WITH A CARBON FORK ON AN INTEGRATED HEADSET... AND ALL THIS WILL ONLY RUN YOU $750. NOT BAD CONSIDERING THE USED CONCEPTS I WAS EYEBALLING WERE ALWAYS IN THE $600-$650 RANGE.

More of the same...

These are new from Genetic Bikes. They're pretty much more of the same, except the black on blacks. Which would look super good on my bike. Find out more at Genetic's website.

Brenton Salo x Cyclocross

Our good friend Brenton Salo went to the cyclocross race at PIR recently and got a few great shots like the one above. Check out his blog at brentonsalo.com to see more of his work.

Great things are on their way!

Ok so we're working on a bike night at Mt. Tabor Theater, here in Portland. It's going to be a monthly event, which I'm stoked on. We'll have bike video screenings, music, food and drinks. Plus just a great time, that hopefully develops Portland's bike community further. We've got the venue on lock down and pretty much everything except sponsors. I've been talking with Jeff from All-City, and it looks like we'll have them for a sponsor in the months to come. And I'm working on getting some good companies to get in on this so that we can give people some dope gear in the process. If you have some hookups or something, let me know so we can make this even super fun for everyone.

Also, I'm working on my own personal baby... Top Secret. It will be a series of trick competitions, alley cat races, and just plain fun events. Due to my paranoid mindset, and a twisted sense of humor, the races will rely less on advertising and more on networking. If it works out as well as it does in my head, this is how it will work... A series of 3 events. I'm in the process of building a website for Top Secret, when that website is up, you will join a mailing list. When the race approaches, you'll be contacted with a time and location, you tell your friends about it and bring ONE entry fee for all of the events (provided you're participating) and in order to participate you'll have to bring your spoke card to each event. It should be super fun and hopefully it'll keep the cops off your backs. Cause nobody likes bike tickets. Keep in mind, I'm still in the planning stages but it sounds rad, right? Also lining up sponsors for that as well.

I'm trying to finally get VELOSHIP on the map so that we can do something for the community. Though, I'm a dreamer and my dreams are often a little larger than life.

I'm working on getting some product. Namely, a Milwaukee Bruiser or an All-City Dropout. I'd like to start reviewing things. So if you're listening, All-City and Milwaukee, I ride a 56(ish) in these bikes. (Actually, I did talk to Jeff about getting my hands on a Dropout... We'll see how successful I am)

Keep VELOSHIPPING,

=SAYBELLA'S PEUGEOT 3=

HERE'S THE FINISHED PEUGEOT FOR SAYBELLA... NEW SURLY 20T ON THE BACK, OURY'S, NEW RISERS AND A SET OF CRANKS... HAS THE ALL-CITY CHAINRING BUT I'M NOT SURE WHO MAKES THE CRANK ARMS. THIS IS THE GOAL FOR THIS BIKE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WHITE TIRES... I THINK THAT'LL CREAM IT UP, TOTALLY.

RIDE WELL BELL!!! THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED FOR THE SPARE AND NEW PARTS... WE CANT HAVE PRETTY AND TALENTED GIRLS RIDING THE STREETS OF PORTLAND ON JANKY OLD 12 SPEEDS NOW, CAN WE?!

=SANDY'S PISTA=

JUST A SHOT OF THE PISTA OWNED BY SANDYJONES WITH IT'S NEW SADDLE, BARS AND AN OLD-TIME FENDER JOB. OGLE AWAY.

=THE PIGEON=

SO I COPPED A PEUGEOT TOURMELET IN A TATTOO DEAL AND OF COURSE IT HAD TO BE CONVERTED...

THE NIGHT BEFORE I RECEIVED IT, THE PERSON GIVING IT TO ME CRASHED INTO A CURB AND BENT BACK THE FORK. AWESOME. IT ACTUALLY BENT THE STEERING TUBE AS WELL...

WHILE I WAS ABLE TO BEND THE FORK STRAIGHT AGAIN, THE STEERING TUBE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. AND ALTHOUGH ITS A BIT HARD TO TURN, I'M NOT TRIPPING!

DISASSEMBLY COMMENCED WITHIN MINUTES OF RECEIVING THE BIKE AND I WAS UNDERWAY....

I SWAPPED OUT THE CHAINRING FOR A 45 THAT I HAD FROM A PREVIOUS PEUGEOT CONVERT... HARD TO FIND THESE TO FIT, AS IT'S A FRENCH BIKE WHICH MEANS ALL THE SIZING IS HECKA WIERD.

THREW ON SOME NITTO RISERS, AND AN ALEXRIMS FRONT WHEEL...

THEN DROPPED IN A SPINERGY I COPPED FROM MY ROOMMATE...

AND VOILA!!! DONE DEAL. I GOT A LITTLE MORE HYPHY WITH IT AND SWAPPED UP THE FRONT WHEEL FOR A CAMPY 650, ALSO FROM SAID ROOMMATE SO I COULD GET JIGGY.

AND HERES THE FINAL BIKE... ALTHOUGH THE STEERING HOLDS SOME RESISTANCE AND THE CRANKS HAVE HELLA TOE-OVERLAP, I CAN STILL THROW BARSPINS AND RIDE MELLOW WATCHING FOR THE ALL TOO EASY PEDAL-STRIKE.

I LOVE THIS BIKE. THIS IS MY NEW RAIN MASHER... I'M PARTIAL TO TRACK GEOMETRY, BUT THIS IS ONE FUN BIKE TO RIDE. OH... I ALSO TORE OFF THE BRAKE-CABLE HOUSING FROM THE TOP TUBE, NATURALLY.

I NAMED THIS ONE THE 'PIGEON' CAUSE ITS WHITE AND DIRTY. WORD. SEE YOU ON THE PORTLAND STREETS MY FRIENDS!!!
